Events REGIS HOUSE RAISES $20,000 WITH RADIO MAMBI WAQI 710 AM ![]() State Representative Julio Robaina joins Eric Sanders and Jackie Knowles with Regis House students at the Radio Mambi studios.
MIAMI, Fla. – March 16, 2006 - Regis House held its eighth Annual Radio Marathon on Radio Mambi WAQI 710 AM on March 2nd and 3rd. Through the long-term partnership between Regis House and Radio Mambi, the Univsion station donated two days of airtime to help drive awareness and raise over $20,000 for Regis House programs. Monies raised from the Radio Marathon provide vital services that Regis House provides free of charge to the adults, children and families of Miami-Dade. Thanks to the contributions of radio listeners like those of Radio Mambi and additional community partners, Regis House has directly assisted over 40,000 Miami residents. In order to continue to operate effectively and maintain the high level of quality of our services, Regis House relies on investment in its services by local residents and corporate partnerships. Special guests included Commissioner Joe Sanchez, State Representative Julio Robaina, Miami Beach Vice-Mayor Luis Garcia Jr., Mr. Willy Gort, Regis House Vice-Chairman and Regis House Founder and Chairman Father Francisco Perez-Lerena. Live, on air testimonials were provided by children, their parents as well as adults who have been given a second chance thanks to Regis House. Veteran Radio Mambi show hosts including Radio Mambi General Director Armando Perez-Roura and La Noche y Usted show host Martha Flores opened up their shows to discuss the work of Regis House with listeners. “Radio Mambi listeners are staunch supporters of Regis House and the numerous programs we provide throughout Miami Dade. It is through the Radio Marathon that we create an opportunity for listeners to pledge their support and help ensure that Regis House continues to make a positive impact in our community” said Jackie Knowles, Regis House Executive Director. Regis House is currently celebrating its 21st year of providing services in Miami. The agency provides multi-generational prevention and treatment services in school and community settings.
